Vanilla Brown Sugar French Toast

So this morning only comes twice a year for us.....thy Sunday morning where we watch our church services on tv, the LDS General Conference, and we get to relax at home(in our pjs) and listen to our leaders messages.

So for us that means an amazing breakfast we can ALL sit and enjoy together without rush!!!

My family loves French Toast and we try it all ways but this time I decided to bring it back old school with a simple recipe with simple, basic cabinet staples!! As far as bread, I used thick sourdough but you can use any thick bread you would like!!

Enjoy!!!

Ingredients:

Loaf of sourdough bread, at least 1-2 inches thick

4 large eggs at room temperature

1 cup of heavy whipping cream

3 tablespoons brown sugar

1 vanilla bean or 1 tablespoon of vanilla

1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Directions:

Mix eggs, cream, brown sugar, vanilla and cinnamon together.

Heat griddle or skillet over medium heat and melt butter. Then dip slices of bread into custard and place on griddle. Cook until golden brown.

Serve immediately with some great toppings!!

Bananas Foster French toast

For Fathers Day I wanted to make Ben something special.....I know he lives French toast(which is on blog) but I didn't want the same toppings as I usually do. I also know he likes bananas sooo being from Louisiana I think of two things when it comes to bananas: 1. Banana pudding and 2. Bananas Foster.  Knowig that banana pudding probably wouldn't be the greatest topping for French Toast I decided on latter. So enjoy this wonderful recipe....and if you ever put banana pudding on top of your French toast please let me know!!! Enjoy.....and Eat on!!

INGREDIENTS:

1/4 cup butter

2/3 cup dark brown sugar

1/2 tablespoons rum extract or 3 tablespoons real rum for you

1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

3 bananas, peeled and sliced

1/4 cup chopped walnuts or whichever but you prefer

Directions

In a large, deep skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in sugar, rum, vanilla and cinnamon. When mixture begins to bubble, place bananas and walnuts in pan. Cook until bananas are hot, 1 to 2 minutes. Serve over French Toast.

Brown Sugar French toast and bananas

I know that Ben loves bananas and a good French toast....and I haven't made it in FOREVER plus it was Fathers Day Weekend so I decided that Saturday morning would be the perfect time to make him his favorite. But was kinda missing some ingredients so I decided to use brown sugar in replacement if everything I needed bc I knew that brown sugar was made up if the things I was missing....so here you are. ENJOY....and eat in!!!!

INGREDIENTS:

Texas toast type bread

1 cup milk

1 cup cream

2-3 tblsp brown sugar

2-3 eggs

1 tsp cinnamon

3-4 bananas sliced

DIRECTIONS:

Basically blend ALL ingredients except bananas and obviously the bread....dip bread into mixture and grill until golden!!!

For whipped cream I put 2-3 cold cups of cold cream into my KitchenAid, turned that sucker on about 8 and let it go. After it was done I put 2-3tblsp of confectioners sugar in and folded as to not ruin fluffy goodness!!0

We used the whole loaf of bread for all this mixture!!
